Butterfly label

In 2008, Watts Winery unveiled a brand-new label of wines; the Butterfly label with the idea that 30 percent of after-profit sales would go directly toward pediatric cancer research. For us at Watts Winery, the mission to fund a cure for childhood cancer is personal. We hope that you'll join us in that mission to eradicate childhood cancer. After all, no child should suffer the pain of cancer and no family should have to endure the nightmare that is pediatric cancer.
Our first Butterfly labeled-wines were a California Red Blend and Chardonnay. We will release several more Butterfly wines later this year.

Our reason for fighting childhood cancer

In 2008, Kyle Watts, the youngest son of Sheri and Craig Watts, was diagnosed with Burkitt's lymphoma.
Over a span of several months, Kyle, who was then 11 years old, underwent surgery and chemotherapy in his battle against the cancer.
It was during Kyle's fight with cancer that Sheri and Craig decided to find a way to continue the fight against cancer; within a few months, Watts Winery launched the Butterfly label with the proviso that a portion of the proceeds would go toward cancer research.
In September 2011, through the many wine lovers who bought the Butterfly label wine, Watts Winery donated $5,000 to University of Davis Pediatric Oncology. The idea, according to Craig and Sheri, is to do research that will find a cure for cancer; "No parent should have to go through what we went through with Kyle," Craig Watts said.
Watts Winery has teamed up with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Sacramento Chapter, as well as other childhood cancer organizations in their continuing battle against pediatric cancers.
During the Tricks and Giggles event in October 2011, for every bottle of Watts wine sold, a portion of the proceeds went toward to LLS, Sacramento Chapter.
"The fight against cancer is constant," said Sheri Watts. "That's why we're working with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. We need to find a way to eliminate cancer, and that takes research which takes money."
